The BestScope BS-1000A Monocular Zoom Microscope has a 1:6.5 zoom ratio, 10x widefield eyepiece, total magnification of 7x-45x, a working distance of 90mm, halogen illumination, and a base with illuminated plate and stage clips. It has a C-mount for use with a compatible digital camera (sold separately). A zoom microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens, and provides zoom, sometimes called pancratic, magnification that allows the user to zoom in on the specimen within a continuous magnification range.

The microscope has upper (episcopic) illumination that reflects light off the specimen for enhanced visibility of opaque specimens, and lower (diascopic) illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. The halogen light source provides bright light in a concentrated path. The base has an illuminated, frosted glass plate and stage clips to secure the slide or specimen in place while viewing.
